In still-hunting, the objective is to be as stealthy and observant as possible while moving through the environment. The correct strategy is to stand still significantly more than you walk. By standing still for extended periods, you allow yourself the opportunity to observe your surroundings carefully. Wildlife is often skittish and may not notice a still hunter as easily as one who is moving.

This approach gives your eyes and ears a chance to detect motion and sounds that might indicate the presence of game animals.
